Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year! Happy 2006!

My uncle booked three condo's at Port Dickson invited us along. My mom told me it would be an interesting trip. She said that the place we are living had a beach and there's a new year party to welcome the new year! There will also be fireworks and partying.
And there we went, to Port Dickson. It was raining cat and dogs on the way there and it took us well 2 hours to reach there, including time wasted on looking for the condo and we nearly got lost. And finally we arrived...

Marina Bay Resort

The bay for yatch to dock

When we reached, we found out that this resort does not have a beach. My heart sank. All it has is a docking bay for luxurious yatch. Too bad i don't have one. If not i would be eligible to join the Admiral Marine Club there. When i reached the place, it was sunset and the scenery was rather breath-taking.

Sunset

At least the resort has a rather nice swimming pool. There was a notice there which reads: No lifeguards available at all times. Sounds rather insecure.

After we settled down, we had a sumptuous meal of steamboat. Yum, Yum! After the meal, some of the relatives played the game of ginrami. Others just wander around and watch tv.

Playing Ginrami...

It was a kinda boring to watch people play a game which you have no idea about it. Time passed by playing with my camera and midnight approached! Yeah! Finally. I can't wait for the partying, countdown and celebration. We went downstairs and....

people waiting at seaside, awaiting the clock to strike midnight

It's not a party as i expected. Its just only a congregation of a few residents of the condo, max 20 of us there. So, no partying, only a few guai lou's who are having their vacations there gulping down whiskey and wine.

Lighting up candles to be put on float to released into sea
None float and all sank.

10,9,8.....2,1,0!! Happy New Year! Yeahoo!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no fireworks at the resort, but fortunately a building far away put up a nice display.

fireworks

Just right af the fireworks, we got uncomfortable of the mosquitoes. So we headed back to our rooms to continue where we stopped. I learned to play ginrami from my aunt, and i lost Rm 35 of my father's money. Opps! We played until 2.00am in the morning. Everyone slept. Only me and my bros were still awake. We were too excited about new year. We chatted and watched tv until there are no more transmission(no astro there) and we couldn't sleep yet. And we are getting bored.

Argh! sien!

We were frustrated.
We couldn't sleep but couldn't think of anything else to do.

So, we cooked instant mee and ate it. Soon, we regretted doing so. It's even harder for us to sleep with a full stomach!

Then next day, we had homemade nasi lemak for breakfast. Then, it's mahjong and ginrami time again. In between, we tried to walk along the coastline to find a beach. We found one owned by another resort.

We didn't care about the sign.
We couldn't leave PD without stepping onto some real sand.

After we left the beach, we went back to our resort and had a swim at the swimming pool. Soon after lunch, we packed up and checked-out at 5.00pm. On our way back, we had dinner at a restaurant in Seremban.

The trip was a great family get-together. I think all of us had a great time. Although we missed the beach and partying, it's a great experience, to celebrate New Year at Port Dickson!
