Buddha jump over the wall

CNY Special 11

Cny's coming soon and the related advestisements propped out of nearly every page of the papers. One advertisements of a restaurant offering reunion dinners....

Buddha Jump Over the Wall?!

For non-chinese or foreigners who read this on the newspaper, they would probably have a cultural shock. What a ridiculous name for a dish..."buddha jump over the wall"?! Make people think of Humpty-Dumpty fell from the wall only.
Don't let the name deceive you. This buddha over the wall thingy is actually a soup and also one of the extravagant indulgences of Chinese cuisine. It's cooked using precious seafood like abalone, shark-fins, grouper lips, scallops, chinese mushrooms with chicken stock. It has a heavenly aroma that the soup owed its name to. This soup was invented during the Ching Dynasty in a restaurant near a monestary. They were preparing this soup and a monk from the monestary was attracted by its aroma. The monk climbed over the wall to investigate about it and this incident gave the dish its name.
YUM YUM!! Looking forward to my "buddha jump over the wall" this CNY!!
